Monarch Butterfly: Royal Mail- Activities for Grades K-4

Description

This resource is designed to involve students in an international study that explores the migratory path of the Monarch butterfly.  While tracking the migration of these butterfly populations, students take part in several mini lessons designed to enhance an understanding and appreciation of the Monarch. 

Recommended activities include:

Poetry with wings- Students write poems and rhymes using vocabulary gained from research into the Monarch.

Magical Changes-Students use rhyme and body movements in this study of butterfly life cycle

North/South- Students act out the migration of the Monarch in a game format.

Do You Know Where Monarchs Rest?- Through direct observation students learn about the migratory challenges of finding food and shelter.
