Young Lives, Global Goals

Elementary, Middle, Secondary

Description

This resource pack aims to raise issues, stimulate debate and generate discussion on the international community's commitment to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to be reached by 2015.

The activities in the pack explore the MDGs with an emphasis on their relation to poverty. They also address the underlying development issues, focusing on the lives of eight young people from four countries. The project is endorsed by the Geographical Association and draws on data from an ongoing development project. As well, it is linked to curricula for geography, environmental studies, and citizenship.

The resource is unique in that it is part of a longitudinal study concerning children and poverty that focuses on the current life experiences of eight specific children around the world. It includes a teacher guide, video, photocards and posters.
